A Long-Term EU resident residence permit (also known as a EU Resident Card) is a document that allows you to legally stay in Poland for a period of more than 3 months. This is a form of temporary residence permit, but it gives much broader rights and benefits than a standard temporary residence permit.
A foreigner can apply for a resident card in Poland if he meets one of the conditions:
- Has a temporary residence permit and has been in Poland continuously for at least 5 years.
Is a native of Poland or has refugee status in Poland. - He has the status of a long-term EU resident in another EU country and intends to stay in Poland for more than 3 months.
- The residence card allows a foreigner to move freely around Poland and other countries of the European Union without the need for additional documents. In addition, the resident card gives the right to work in Poland without having to obtain a separate work permit, access to health care, education and other public services.
An important fact is that the EU long-term resident card allows you to obtain long-term resident status in another EU country after 5 years of continuous residence in that country.
In summary, an EU long-term resident card is a form of temporary residence permit, but gives much broader rights and benefits than a standard temporary residence permit, such as freedom to move around the EU, the right to work without additional permits, and access to various public services.
