Meldunek, or registration of stay at a specific place of residence, either permanently or temporarily. Meldunek is mandatory for all persons who intend to stay in Poland for a period longer than 30 days.
The Meldunek registration form shall be submitted to the Office of the city or municipality where the address of residence is located. The request to report must be made in person or by a representative. The required documents are usually an identity card or passport and a certificate of ownership or rent the real estate.
Meldunek is submitted for order to obtain a PESEL, register a car, take up a job or receive social benefits. Meldunek is usually made in order to stay in a given place for a period of up to 3 months, e.g. during vacation, study or seasonal work.
It is important that in the event of a change of residence, update the report in the Office of the city or municipality where the new place of residence is located.
