Car registration in Poland is a process necessary for the legal use of a vehicle on public roads. This procedure includes a number of steps, including:
- Car insurance – before registering a car in Poland, the owner of the vehicle must purchase a civil liability insurance policy (OC) in one of the Polish insurance companies.
- Technical testing – after purchasing the OC policy, the car must undergo technical testing at one of the designated vehicle inspection stations. If the vehicle meets the requirements, it receives a so-called “positive opinion” entitling to further action.
- Administrative fees – after obtaining a positive opinion from the technical inspection, the owner of the vehicle must pay administrative fees related to the registration of the vehicle, such as stamp duty and a fee for issuing a registration certificate.
- Documents – when registering a vehicle, the following documents are required: a personal card or passport of the vehicle owner, a certificate of technical examination, a contract for the purchase and sale of the vehicle, an OC policy and documents confirming the payment of administrative fees.
- Registration – after completing the above steps, the vehicle owner must register his car with the appropriate authority, which will issue him a registration card and license plates.
It is worth remembering that the process of registering a car in Poland may vary slightly depending on individual circumstances and requirements, for example, if the vehicle comes from abroad or is used.
